It's our philosophy that sets us apart from most. We train each horse individually, maintaining their mental stability as they are taught a physical act of achievement. We believe it's important to invest the time to build a kinship with each horse. We also believe that consistency is key and that coupled with kinship, learning comes easier . Consistency leads to confidence and confidence makes a horse consistent.

We believe that our riders need to develop feel, timing and balance, and that each of these essentials is achieved through experience.

We provide private lessons from beginning rider to advanced reining and working cowhorse. In addition to individual lessons, clinics are held throughout the year

Reining

Reining classes teach horse/riders to perform an individual, pre-assigned pattern from memory, demonstrating a variety of stops, turns and figures in various speeds. The emphasis is on the technical application of natural aids and the rider's ability to show.

Working cowhorse

Working cowhorse classes teach horse/riders how to work a cow in a herd, complete a reining pattern, and do fence work.

To work a cow in the herd, horse and rider will quietly walk into a herd and move one cow out, and work that cow side to side, preventing it from getting back into the herd. During the 2 1/2 minutes you can work as many as three cows, one at a time, showing your ability to control the cow.

A reining pattern must be completed including loping big fast circles and small slow circles on each lead, rundowns with sliding stops, spins to each direction, lead changes in each direction and backing.

In fence work you will demonstrate your ability to control a single cow on the short end of the arena from side to side. You begin by allowing the cow to run down the long side of the arena against the fence. Pass the cow, cut it off and turn it around. Make the cow run back down the fence in the opposite direction. Pass and cut off the cow once more. Finally, allow the cow to move into the center of the arena and move it in a small circle in one direction and then the other.
